Video Games Live is coming to Singapore!

For the first time ever, Video Games Live is coming to Singapore, and from the buzz I’ve heard about it, it’s definitely set to be one of the most exciting events in the gaming world!

VGL, as some of you already know, is the biggest concert event that features music from video games, which promises to satisfy not only video games fans, but also all music fans. I’ve heard that the NUS Symphony Orchestra and Choir are going to be part of the concert, and I’m quite sure the music arrangement and pyrotechnics are going to be awesome.

VGL has had over 90 shows 100 shows in Europe, USA and North Asia (Korea) since 2005, and has 70 shows slated for 2009. This is the first time that VGL is playing in Southeast Asia, and I’m pretty sure there’ll be gamers and fans flying in from all over the region to attend this concert.

That makes me doubly lucky to have scored a pair of tickets for this concert event, and I can’t wait for it! Jealous much? Hehe.

I think the concept of such a concert is interesting and exciting, because what makes video games awesome and memorable aren’t just the visuals and the game play or goals of the game, but also the music in the games. And this concert is precisely that – A festival to celebrate the amazing music from the most popular video games of all time!

Are you going for Video Games Live? Do come, and do let me know so we can meet up!

Video Games Live Concert Preview

Date: Wednesday, 17 June 2009
Time: 5:00pm
Venue: Funan the IT Mall, Atrium.

For me, the act I’m most eagerly anticipating would be Martin Leung, video game pianist! I’ve heard that he’s gonna be at Funan later today, so check him out!

He plays the theme song of Super Mario blindfolded. Can’t wait to see that! That piece of music is no Bach nor Liszt nor Beethoven, but it sure is amazing on it’s own. It’s really quite complex, plus he plays with all the interesting sounds that you’ll hear at the different stages of the game, and you can almost imagine the game as it goes along, as he plays his piece. As a huge Super Mario fan, and a former piano student myself, this is definitely something I must see once in my lifetime!

Oh, do watch this too, the first YouTube video that made him famous!

C’mon gamers! Music fans! This is gonna be an awesome night! See you on Friday!

Thanks to Nicholas Aaron Khoo from SCOGA for helping me get tickets to this fantastic event!

I’m so jealous, we never get anything like that around here. I think Halo 2 on the piano was pretty awsome.
